PETER BROCK HEADS JUDGES AT THE RITZ-CARLTON CONCOURS TWO AUTHORITIES ADDED FOR '97
AMELIA ISLAND, FL -- -The judges for the second invitational Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance once again will be headed by Peter Brock, an independent designer, automotive author, photo journalist, and consultant and instructor to the Art Center School in Pasadena, California. The Concours is scheduled for March 8, 1997, and is presented by Mercedes-Benz of North America.
"We are particularly blessed that most of the pre-eminent panel we assembled for the inaugural event are clearing their schedules to return," co-chairman Bill Warner declared. "We are adding two more authorities, Roy Sjoberg, executive engineer, Team Viper, Chrysler Corporation, and Dave Seibert, author of several books on Ferrari, the featured marque this time."
Brock, Anaheim Hills, California, designed the 1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe, first American car to win the FIA world championship for GT cars. He has since designed and built prototypes for Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Nissan and Triumph. He has often been a judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Sjoberg has been involved with the development of the Dodge Viper and other projects for that division of Chrysler. He still competes in amateur racing. A former officer of the Ferrari Club of America, Seibert is editor of the Prancing Horse Magazine, dedicated to Ferrari owners and their cars.
Phil Hill, honorary chairman and America's first Formula One world driving champion, is on the judge's panel ex officio. He also has impeccable credentials as a vintage and race car authority, Warner said.
Expected to return are such as Dave Holls, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, former director of design, General Motors Corporation, Larry Shinoda, Bloomfield Hills, currently designer for Roger Penske Racing and responsible for the Ford Mustang Boss 302 as well as some of the original Corvette Sting Ray; Dave Gooding, Beverly Hills, vice-president of Christie's America International Motor Car Department and Jeff Huber, Gainesville sculptor and a senior master judge for the antique Automobile Club of America.
